EU Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel — also known as the EU Flower — is Europe’s official environmental certification and one of the world’s most respected eco-labels. It is classified as a Type 1 environmental label, just like the Nordic Swan and Möbelfakta. This means it is independent, based on a life cycle perspective, and developed using a holistic view of environmental and health impacts throughout a product’s life span.
Awarded only to products that meet strict environmental, health, and quality standards, the EU Ecolabel ensures sustainability at every stage — from raw material sourcing to production, use, and end-of-life.
At Johanson, we are proud that our chairs Pelican and Plus have earned this certification. This confirms that both models:
- Are produced with reduced environmental impact,
- Are free from hazardous substances,
- Are designed for durability, repairability, and recyclability,
- Fulfill high-quality requirements verified by third-party audits.
Notably, Pelican holds the distinction of being the first chair in Sweden to receive the EU Ecolabel, marking an important milestone for both Johanson and the Swedish furniture industry.
